The Hanley family
Phillip Hanley has kindly provided information and pictures of his family. If anyone can add any names or extra information then please contact me and I will pass on the information. This family of Hanley around 1800 were all in the south east of York, in Laytham around 1820, then they were in Seaton Ross, followed by Pocklington. For more information on the Hanley family please visit the webpage of Ken Hanley at www.thehanleys.org.uk
Alfred Hanley
Alfred Hanley b 1853 1st left 2nd row
Aunt Lillies wedding 1908
Phillip's great aunt ---Lillie Hanley born Pocklington 31/12/1883. She married Charles Hoggard in 1908 --and they migrated to Australia in 1912. Phillip cannot see any other family members such as his grandfather (Lillie's' brother) present.
Alfred or Denison Hanley
Phillip was told this could be his great grandfather ( Alfred Hanley )  He was born in Seaton Ross in 1853 . As a railway worker he lived various places but resided in 1891 at the West Green railway cottage in Pocklington . He died  1900 in Pocklington --of appendicitis. However, as he does not look like Alfred in the photo above, there is a possibility it is Denison Hanley--born in Laytham in 1827 and died in Pocklington in 1908. The Census shows that he lived in Seaton Ross  in 1861, 1881 and 1901.
Aunt Mary
This lady is thought to be Mary Hanley --daughter of Denison --born Seaton Ross 1861 . She married Henry Ford in 1877 -- either Seaton Ross or Pocklington.
1919 wedding

A group wedding photo taken outside Alma Terrace, Kirkland Street, Pocklington between Phillip's great aunt Victoria May Snow and  Evelyn Leonard Thornham -- a drainage clerk of Pocklington -- in 1919. Phillip recognises his grandfather and grandmother (Alfred and Hannah Hanley)  2nd and 3rd from right second row --but for many years he has sought to discover the identifty of the man standing behind his granddad. Can anyone help?
