Bishop Wilton, Past and Present

Bottom End - 12

previous postcard | up | next postcard

That's George Brown, Tailor and Draper of Bishop Wilton. He is standing under his sign at the entrance to a passageway that separated a dwelling on the left from his double-fronted dwelling on the right. Notice how the sign is slightly offset to his side of the passageway.

The downstairs room on the far right, without curtains or a blind in the window, was where he did his tailoring.

This particular postcard was sent by George Brown's wife to their daughter. But for the postmark on the back it would have been unidentifiable.
