Bishop Wilton, Past and Present

Top End - 4

The lilac bushes on the bank have disappeared but they are well remembered as a play area for children.

The bridge over the beck and the steps leading up from them now serve the purpose of connecting one side of the village with the other. However, it is likely that they were built in the time of the horse-drawn carriage when there was a track up the middle of the top end of the village by the side of the beck. Those coming to church would alight and climb the steps.

The old vicarage can just be seen on the left with a fence in front of it.
