Bishop Wilton, Past and Present

Miscellaneous - 3

In some ways this is the most exciting postcard of all. From what can be pieced together, it would seem that the Pocklington photographer, F Slights, came to Bishop Wilton when there was a Steam Circus in the village. Perhaps he came with his family and left them while he wandered round and took this photograph and at least two others that are shown elsewhere (No. 12 Topend and No. 8 Bottomend).

The village looks a bit distant but the photograph is of sufficient quality to allow enlargement which shows some interesting detail: a derelict building on the Main Street; the Hall Farm stack yard and buildings; activity at the cross roads and ....... the attractions that came with the Steam Circus along with travellers caravans.
