Bishop Wilton, Past and Present

Top End - 12

A whole story could be written about this image! It was taken by F. Slights of Pocklington.

There was a butcher where the open double doors on the opposite side of the main street. That could be him standing outside.

Down from the butcher was the police house. You can just see a notice board (with a "wanted" poster on it?) to the left of the door and (with a magnifying glass) the constabulary sign over the door.

W. Culine's Steam Circus has come to Bishop Wilton! This links this photo with two others on the website: No. 8 in the Bottom End section and No. 3 in the Miscellaneous section Why? Well, you can just about see traveller's caravan's and a side show outside the Cross Keys pub by the cross roads. They must have been part of W. Culine's outfit. Also Slights took all 3 photos.
